Vegan bake sale season is here again!
Can you believe this is our 6th year doing this? Because I can’t. Who knew that a place lovingly referred to as “Cowtown” could have so many vegans on the hunt for some delicious tasties. With new veg-friendly business continuously popping up (hello Hearts Choices, Tamarind and Baked from the Heart) our voices are finally being heard! Go us!
If someone had told me that our first itty bitty bake sale that managed to raise a couple hundred bucks would turn into quite the bad ass event with so many generous people and businesses wanting to get involved by donating their time, money and products, I would have scoffed as I stuffed a leftover cupcake we couldn’t sell into my face.
Kicking our sale up another notch, the Vegan Baking Team will by holding Calgary’s 6th Annual Charity Vegan Bake Sale in front of everyone’s favorite health food store, Community Natural Foods on Saturday May 30th, 2015 from 11am to 3pm or sell out (fingers crossed!). This isn’t the kind of bake sale you remember from those youthful days in elementary school, with an amazing raffle, DIY flare and seriously delicious treats, the Calgary vegan bake sale is one happening spot. Speaking of raffles, have I mentioned how amazing this year is going to be? With donations from BeeFree Honee, Cococo Chocolatiers, Endangered Species, Thai Onzon, EpicBlend, Avatara Pizza and so many more, you’re definitely going to want to buy up those tickets!
This will be the second year that all bake sale proceeds will be donated to R.A.S.T.A. Rescue and Sanctuary for Threatened Animals, which is a non-profit organization committed to providing lifelong care to abandoned and abused animals, and the Alberta Spay and Neuter Task Force, a non-profit group that provides high volume, high quality volunteer-run spay and neuter clinics and education for Alberta’s First Nations by invitation.
If you’d like to get in on the action and help out these fantastic charities, show up to the sale, buy some yummy food and leave happy, it’s really that simple 🙂
